ImmaCare’s Next Executive Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

On behalf of the ImmaCare Board of Directors, I am pleased to share exciting news about the future of our organization. Following a comprehensive national search, the Board has unanimously appointed Aaron Jones, MSW, LCSW, as the next Executive Director of ImmaCare.

Over the past four months, our Search Committee conducted an extensive and thoughtful search with the help of The Strategy Group, LLC, reviewing dozens of highly qualified candidates before selecting Aaron. Throughout every stage of the process, we remained focused on finding a leader who not only possesses exceptional executive experience but also shares ImmaCare’s unwavering commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness with dignity, compassion, and excellence.

Aaron brings more than 18 years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations, homeless services, community engagement, and executive leadership within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In his most recent role as Associate District Director for the VA, he oversaw operations for 21 outpatient clinics across two states, leading more than 200 employees, managing multimillion-dollar budgets, and directing major capital projects.

Equally important, Aaron began his career working directly with veterans experiencing homelessness, connecting individuals to housing and critical support services. Throughout his career, he has built strong partnerships among government agencies, healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to improve outcomes for vulnerable populations. His expertise in organizational leadership, financial stewardship, strategic planning, and public engagement will serve ImmaCare well as we continue to expand our impact throughout Greater Hartford. Aaron joined ImmaCare as Executive Director on August 31 and looks forward to getting to know our staff, clients, and community partners in the weeks ahead.

During the interview process, Aaron shared a vision that deeply resonated with both the Search Committee and the Board. He wrote, “ImmaCare’s commitment to housing stability, equity, and person-centered services aligns powerfully with my professional values. I am prepared to elevate ImmaCare’s presence through advocacy, strategic communications, and dynamic stakeholder engagement across housing, healthcare, business, and government sectors.”

As we look ahead, we also pause to recognize the extraordinary leadership of Lou Gilbert. Lou has led ImmaCare with integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication, strengthening our organization while never losing sight of the people at the heart of our mission. His vision and commitment have positioned ImmaCare for continued success, and we extend our deepest gratitude for his many years of outstanding service.

Leadership transitions are defining moments in the life of any organization, but our mission remains constant. With Aaron’s leadership and the continued partnership of supporters like you, we are confident ImmaCare will continue to grow, innovate, and provide life-changing services to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Greater Hartford.

Thank you for your continued generosity, trust, and commitment to ImmaCare. Your support makes this work possible, and we look forward to embarking on this exciting new chapter together.

With gratitude,

Sheila Azor, Board President
