The parishioners of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Manchester, CT (formerly St. Bridget’s Church and St. Bartholomew’s Church) collected over 100 pairs of gloves, 193 pairs of underwear, 363 pairs of socks, 107 hats, 45 sets of thermal underwear, 36 tee-shirts, 15 scarves and 1 blanket for us! That’s a whopping 860 items! (A small portion photographed here.)
One of our key goals is to keep Shelter stays short and move people on to more secure housing options, with this fast turnover, socks, underwear, and undershirts are something that we ALWAYS have a need for. This donation is a big help, and the perfect way to kick off spring with a little boost of gear to prepare us for next winter!
